New headshots, voicereel on its way. Come on then, let's be havin' ya.
You know what I was thinking the other day? A memory of myself flashed into my head, aged five, blonde ringlets, finger up nose really, really wanting my birthday to hurry up and thinking how long two days would take, and tugging on my Mum's apron and crying and crying. Of course, in a flash my sixth birthday was there and over. My Mum turned to me on my birthday and said ''you mustn't wish time away Maddy, when you're grown up it will whizz by and you'll wish it would slow down'' I laughed and carried on eating our leftover birthday cake. Now, I know it's been said a million times, but it really is true that the older you get the faster time goes by.
I was so sad in December when my Dutch Grandad, Gerry, passed away. He was such a wonderful man, difficult and stubborn but inspiring and wise. And boy, did he live. I love listening to my Dad telling me wonderful stories of his experiences. He left his children some inheritance, and my kind Pappa passed some on to my sister, my brother and I.
I thought really, really hard about what to do with mine and that's when I had that flashback of myself as a young girl and I really felt overwhelmed to spend some of it 'making things happen'. So, hence the new headshots and voicereel. It won't mean a new acting job drops in my lap, but it sure will help me along the way.
So thanks, Gerry, here's to you and Joan. I know you're happy. Thank you for helping me move things along.
